I visited Kamakura in 2019, through a series of daytrips and solo adventures. I fell in love with the temples and shrines, all of the outdoor activities, and especially the food! Explore my list of things to do, or check out a gallery of some of my favorite pictures!
Kamakura has some of the best food I've tasted in Japan. Here's a list of all the places I recommend when visiting!
-Ichikanjin (ramen)
-Itsuki Garden (brunch)
-Jenteco Labo (coffee)
-Sobaya Hanmo (noodles)
-JS Burger Cafe (burgers)
-Enoshima-tei (seafood)
-Street food!
Kamakura is such an exciting city with so many things to do. Here's where I would go for fun!
-Temple hopping. Grab a Goschuincho and head to all of the amazing temples! You can take hiking trails that connect to different shrines for a serious adventure. My favorites temples to visit are Hokokuji and Hasedera.
-Enoshima Island. Take the adorable Enoden Line and explore the beautiful, mystical island of Enoshima. Wander around the streets, admire the shrines, and try all the amazing seafood and ice cream! You should definitely spend a whole day here.
-Visit the beach. Whether you're brave enough to try surfing, or you're more of a picnic type, everyone enjoys the beaches here. I'd try and catch sunset for the best views.
This is an amazing restaurant in the middle of a forest. Go here for brunch, and take lots of pictures! The red and white striped parasols are iconic, and the whole restaurant is beautiul and delicious!
If you're looking for a fun day trip from Kamakura (or Tokyo), try the Hakone Loop! Travel by train, cabelcar, reopeway, and pirate ship (we're serious!) while you get some of the best views of Japan.
This secluded temple is one of my favorites for a reason – this amazing bamboo forest! As soon as you step foot here, you'll feel at peace. I recommend paying a small fee for fresh green tea overlooking the bamboo!
